Zane Ryman Mizell, 79, died in her home Friday, Oct. 12, following a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born August 10, 1933 in St. Augustine, Fla., the daughter of Harold E. and Marion Jackson Ryman. She graduated from Ketterlinus High School in St. Augustine and Sullins College in Bristol, Tenn.
She was a housewife and active church member, as well as a gifted artist and craftsman. In 1970 she helped co-found North Carolina��������?ᬮ���?묢s first Girl Scout troop for developmentally delayed young women.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Howard W. Mizell Jr.; daughters, Cindy Yarberry and husband Don Jacques of Helena, Mont., and Leslie Mizell of Greensboro; sister, Judy Z. Allen of St. Augustine; niece, Jordie Randall-Kirkwood Hudson of St. Augustine; and grandchildren Ellen and Cameron Yarberry.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Church of the Epiphany Episcopal Church with The Rev. Linda Nye officiating. Fair Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
