Woodrow Stanley Blackwell, 80 of Eden, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Ancora Compassionate Care’s Gibson House in Reidsville.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2pm Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Dan View Cemetery in Eden with Pastor Jerry Lankford officiating. Visitation will be held from 12-1:45 at Fair Funeral Home on Saturday prior to the service.
The family will receive friends at other times at his home, 1211 Ellett Ave, Eden, NC.
Stan was born July 11, 1945 in Portsmouth, Virginia to the late Woodrow Blackwell and Mary Bradford Blackwell. Following high school, Stan served his country in the US Army. During his time in the military, from 1965 to 1967, Stan earned the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and his Marksman (Rifle) badge. He later worked as a spinner at Dupont until retirement. Following retirement, he began his own lawn care business. Stan was a hard worker and enjoyed being busy. Stan loved fishing and spending time at Philpott Lake. He was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, he collected coins, and was a huge Neil Diamond Fan.
Surviving are his daughter, Susan Lipford (Jason); stepson, Keith Ray Williams (Kim); grandson, Jay Lipford; and granddaughter, Hannah Lipford.
In addition to his parents, Stan is preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Pruitt Blackwell, and brother, Jimmy Blackwell.
The family would like to issue a special thank you to Dr. Daniel, Tracy Sharp, Amanda Price. Also, a thank you to the doctors, nurses, aides, and staff at Gibson House, as well as to his sitters with ADT, Melissa, Charlotte, Denise, Valora, Angel, and Nurse Angie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Ancora Compassionate Care, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375.
