William "Buck" Mitchell

William “Buck” Carlton Mitchell, 61, formerly of Cascade, VA. passed away peacefully at UNC Rockingham Hospital on Sunday, June 30th, 2024 with loved ones with him.

The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.

William was born April 20, 1963 in Leaksville, NC, to the late Harry Sanford Mitchell and Eliza Lea Mitchell. William especially loved trucks and tractors and loved to have vegetable gardens. He had a special fondness for dogs and was known to take in rescues and find homes for dogs. William loved Moo Moo and Jazz, his special doggie companions, and helping to take care of Tango and Josie. He loved listening to music, watching westerns, NASCAR, and wrestling.

In addition to his parents, William is preceded in death by his brothers, Harry Mitchell, Jr., and Joseph Mitchell; his sisters, Shirley Mitchell Harris, Bobbie Sue Mitchell Rodgers, and Linda Mitchell Pulliam. He was also predeceased by his nephew, Roger Mitchell, and great-nephews, Noah Grey McGuire and Joey Michael McGuire.

He leaves behind his loving and supportive partner, Deborah Foddrell; a sister, Diane Mitchell Bryan; nieces, Tracy Fry, Susan Hampton, Rhonda McGuire, Cathy Denny, Sandy Torres, Lisa Harris, Ginger Mitchell, LeAnn Mitchell, Martha Mitchell; his nephews, Carl “Pete” Pulliam, Jr., Michael Bryan, Joshua Bryan, and Andrew Edwards; multiple great nieces and great nephews.

William is missed by his family and friends.

The family would like to especially thank the staff at UNC Rockingham Hospital for their compassionate care of William during his stay there.
