William Ernest Hopkins

William Ernest Hopkins, 89, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at Brian Center in Eden.

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday December 9, 2017 at Fellowship Baptist Church with burial to follow in Danview Cemetery with Military Rites preformed by the Rockingham County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (10am-11am).

Mr. Hopkins was born October 23, 1928 in Spray, NC, to the late John Edward Hopkins and Madge Clark Hopkins.  He was a graduate of Leaksville High School, class of 1947 and a US Army Korean War veteran.  Mr. Hopkins was a retiree of Fieldcrest Mills and member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

He is survived by his sister, Shelby Jean Gentry of Eden; sister-in-law, Merita Hopkins of Browns Summit; special friend, Louise Weddle of Eden; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Minter Hopkins; brothers and sisters, Pauline Denny, Russell Hopkins, Elaine Carter, Marie Barker, and Douglas Hopkins.
