William Lee Earles

William “Bill” Lee Earles, 85 of Stoneville, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Ancora Compassionate Care.

A memorial service will be held at 1pm Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Fair Funeral Home in Eden with private burial at Dan View Cemetery to be held at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Bill was born in Eden on November 29, 1939 to the late W. Eugene Earles and Ruby Wilson Earles. Bill Served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1962. Bill worked in management and retired from Nortel Networks. Not ready for retirement, he delivered new school buses to California for QRT out of High Point. Bill was an avid golfer until he became disabled. 

After meeting a classmate, Bobby Barrett, Bill developed a passion for woodturning, spending numerous hours at his lathe and enjoying every moment.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Novella Underwood Earles; his daughter, Teresa Earles of Greensboro, stepson, Scott Hopper of Stoneville. He thought of his grandchildren as his own and preferred not to use “step”. Grandchildren Christopher Hopper of Madison, Anna Hopper of Durham, Mallori Hopper of Richmond, VA, and Emily Hopper of Lexington; two great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Quinleigh; one aunt, Virgie Ross of Bethany.

In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his stepson, Carl Hopper and granddaughter, Carla Hopper.
