William "Bill" Thomas Johnson

William "Bill" Thomas Johnson of 606 Briarwood Drive, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 19, 2010. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, May 21, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. Mr. Johnson was born April 24, 1929 in Buckingham, VA, son of the late William Bransford and Ruby Rebecca Jones Johnson. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Eden and the retired vice-president of Solite Corporation. Mr. Johnson was civically active as a member of The Lions Club as well as a Mason with Stonewall Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. #200 for over 50 years. Surviving are his four children, Bill Johnson and wife, Mary of Norwood, Tommy Johnson, Joy Conner and husband, George, and Jennifer Boyte and husband, Darrell, all of Eden; six grandchildren, Kendall Priest of Winston-Salem, Eric Johnson of Greensboro, Caitlyn Boyte of Winston-Salem, Hunter Boyte of Eden, Jenny Conner of Greensboro, and Megan Conner of Nashville, TN; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Boatwright Johnson. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (12 noon to 1 pm) at Fair Funeral Home and other times they will gather at the home of his daughter, Jennifer Boyte, 435 Greenway Drive in Eden. Memorial contributions may be made to Morehead Memorial Hospital Foundation, 117 E. Kings Hwy, Eden, NC 27288; or to Rockingham County Humane Society, 205 Boone Road, Eden, NC 27288.
