William "Bill" John Leffew

William "Bill" John Leffew, 96, formerly of Harrison Street and Leffew Drive in Eden, passed away Monday evening, September 26, 2016, at Brian Center.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, October 1, at Spray Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in Overlook Cemetery with military rites to be performed by Rockingham County Honor Guard.

Bill was born May 12, 1920 in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Homer Richard Leffew and Annie Hodges Leffew Jefferson.  He was a US Army veteran, having served in Germany during World War II and a retired contractor with his own business, Leffew Construction Company.  Bill was a member of Spray Baptist Church where he was very active.  He also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity.

He is survived by granddaughters, Lisa Aaron (Mike), Jackie Durham (Frank) both of Eden, Ashley Hopkins (Damon) and Paige Leffew of Weaverville, NC;  grandson, Malcolm Paschall and fiancee', Chrissy of Acworth, GA;  great-grandchildren, Brenton, Jared, Jordan, Obadiah, Elijah, and Abigail;  and sisters, Lucinda Sumner and Earline Law, both of Eden.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Aubiere Tiller Leffew; daughter, Jane Leffew Kennon;  and brothers, Milton and Malcolm Leffew.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (10 - 11 AM) at Spray Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375.
