Walter "Watsy" Wade

Walter "Watsy" Raleigh Wade, 92, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, August 31, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Overlook Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (1 - 2 PM) at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter, 124 Oak Ridge Drive in Eden.

Mr. Wade was born December 27, 1925 in Leaksville, NC, to the late Albert Younger Wade and Jennie Jefferson Wade.  He was a US Navy, World War II veteran and a retired mail carrier for the US Postal Service.  Watsy enjoyed sports, politics and playing Rook.  He had the "gift of gab" and always enjoyed talking to people.  Most of all, he loved his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Martha Corum and husband, Mike of Eden;  grandson, Kyle Corum and wife, Kelly of Elon;  granddaughter, Kirsten Symmes and husband, Will of Browns Summit;  and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Makenna.

In addition to is parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, O'Neal Kimball Wade and Naomi Murphy Wade;  granddaughter, Kelly Wade Corum; and his 10 siblings.  He was the last living child of his parents.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to his special caregiver, Marie Clifton, for all her love and support.
