Vurble L. Bateman

Vurble L. Bateman, 82, of Roanoke, VA went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 30, 2010. Funeral will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with visitation to be held one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Mr. Bateman was born May 30, 1927 to the late George Bateman and Daisy Curry Bateman. He served in the Army in the Korean War and was retired from G.E. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by brothers; Kenneth Bateman and Deeward Bateman and sister, Katherine Fisher. Surviving are his son, Mark L. Bateman and wife, Diann R. Bateman, of Roanoke, VA; sisters, Doris McClung, Mary Bowman, Louise Nance, Elizabeth Stone, Nancy Coleman; sister-in-law, Yvonne Bateman; and many nieces and nephews; very special friends and family; Michelle Handy and god-father of Devin Sutliff, Jacqueline Sutliff and Jayde Crawford.
