Viva Lee Franklin Hyler

Viva Lee Franklin Hyler, 80, of 151 Highland Avenue in Eden, passed away Tuesday morning, June 25, 2013, at Hospice Home of Rockingham County in Wentworth.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, June 27, at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Danview Cemetery.

Mrs. Hyler was born February 19, 1933 in Stanley, NC; daughter of the late Ernest Lee Franklin and Mary Lineberger Franklin. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and a retiree of Karastan Rug Mill. She had also worked as a Walmart greeter.

She is survived by her son, Ernest Ray Shelton of Stoneville; one grandchild, Brandon Michael Shelton of Eden; two nieces, Sherry Purdy of Eden and Brandi Snyder of Henderson, NC, along with several other nieces and nephews; and her caregiver and friend, Brenda Eanes, of the home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Dix Hyler; son, Donald R. Shelton; brothers, Thomas Vance Franklin and James Taylor Franklin; and sister, Sue F. Richardson.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday (1 - 2pm) at the church and other times at her home.
