Vera Cochran Moretz

September 25, 1923 — July 5, 2017

Vera Cochran Moretz, 93, passed away Wednesday night, July 5, 2017, at Morehead Nursing Center.

 

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, July 8 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Overlook Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (10 - 11 AM) and other times at the home, 209 W. Meadow Road in Eden.

 

Mrs. Moretz was born September 25, 1923 in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Henry and Rosa Brown Cochran. She was a graduate of Leaksville High School.  During her working years, she worked for Dan River Mills and Burlington Industries.  Vera enjoyed gardening, playing Scrabble, and trips to the Blueridge Parkway.  Most of all she loved her children and family and sharing time with them.  Vera was a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda G. Moretz of Yadkinville;  son, Eugene "Buddy" Moretz of Eden;  two grandsons, Michael Moretz and wife, Lisa and Earl Roland, Jr., both of Eden;  five great grandchildren, Michael E. Moretz, Bradley Roland, David Stultz, Jr., Thomas Stultz and Angel Moretz;  great-great-granddaughter, Ariel Nicole Dyson; and sister, Evelyn Howell of Spartanburg, SC.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Moretz, Sr.;  daughter, Vicky Dickerson and son-in-law, Phillip Dickerson;  brothers, Wilford Cochran and Willard Cochran;  and sisters, Betty Heffinger and husband, James and Helen Smith and husband, David.

 

The family would like to offer a special thanks to Eden Internal Medicine, Hospice of Rockingham County, Home Health Care, Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, Morehead Memorial Hospital and to Morehead Nursing Center for all their loving care and support.
