Trevor Wilson Yates

Trevor Wilson Yates, 25 of Oak Ridge, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 17, 2026 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 11am at Stokesdale United Methodist Church. The family will greet visitors following the service.

Trevor was born January 23, 2001, at Andrews AFB, Maryland. He graduated from Northwest High School in 2019, where he played in the marching band for 4 years. He was pursuing a creative writing degree online through Full Sail University in Florida. Trevor was a proud Eagle Scout. He enjoyed gaming, especially with friends. His favorite game was Marvel Rivals and he was active in the game board, Discord. He also loved Pokémon. He was a great cook and enjoyed discovering new recipes. He had a big heart and loved spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving are his mother, Melissa O'Dell-Yates; sister, Katelyn Yates; girlfriend, Amaya Story; maternal grandmother, Nancy O’Dell; paternal grandmother, Cynthia Benton; grandfather, David Yates (Joyce); aunt, René O’Neil; uncles, Dan O’Neil, Robert Yates (Katrina), Michael Yates (Kirstin); cousin, Daniel O’Neil (Kristin Kohout).

Trevor is preceded in death by his father, Charles Yates; maternal grandfather, Jimmie O’Dell; paternal grandfather, Moffatt Benton.
