Tommy L. Hankins

Tommy Leroy Hankins, 74 of Eden, passed away Friday, October 2, 2026 at his home after a long illness. He will be greatly missed.

Tommy was employed by E. G. Forrest for over 35 years as a maintenance manager, a job he truly loved.

Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Alvin Hankins, his mother, Carolyn Freeman Gover, and his brother, Jimmy Gover.

Tommy is survived by his wife of 46 years, Debra Reid Hankins; his sons, Tommy Barnes (Rae) and Alex Hankins (Chasity). He is also survived by his sisters, Laranda Hankins Joyce (Tony), and Selisa Gover Hodges (Redale); grandchildren, Alexis Hankins Chapman (Mike), Destiny Hankins, TJ Barnes (Ayzia), Naomi and Junie Barnes; and four great-grandchildren. Also, Tommy’s beloved dog, River, who was always by his side.

Tommy will have a private graveside burial at a later date.
