Tommie Rozelle Chatman

Tommie Rozelle Chatman, 90, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018, at UNC-Rockingham Health Care in Eden.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Monday, July 30, at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends Monday, prior to the service, from 1 - 1:45 PM at Fair Funeral Home, before proceeding to the cemetery.  At other times the family will gather at 401 Daisy Court in Eden.

Mr. Chatman was born September 9, 1927 in Stokes County, NC, to the late Walter Earnest and Minnie Bell Rierson Chatman.  He was a retiree of John Smith and Sons, Inc.  Tommie enjoyed gardening and growing vegetables, going to the flea market and loved attending Grace Baptist Church.

He is survived by his three children, Karen Ferris-Gibson (Bill), Cindy C. Slaughter, who was his special caregiver, and Timothy B. Chatman (Lucy), all of Eden;  six grandchildren;  and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue Slaughter Chatman;  sisters, Gladys Harris, Myrtle Jones and Della Cardwell;  and brother, Lee Chatman.
