Thomas Edwin Carter, Jr.

Thomas “Tommy” Edwin Carter, Jr, age 72 of Eden, NC, passed away on Tuesday February 26, 2019 at his home.

A Service to celebrate the life of Tommy Carter will be held 4 pm on Thursday March 7, 2019 at Growing Oaks Community Church, Hwy, 158 in Reidsville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 3 -4 pm at the church and other times at his residence. Tommy was born June 23, 1946 in Rockingham County to the late Thomas Carter, Sr. and Mildred Harvey Carter.  He was a US Army Veteran and served in the Vietnam War.  He was a member of Growing Oaks Community Church, American Legion and Two Rivers Bass Club and an avid fisherman. Tommy was a retired Truck Driver. On his bucket list was to ride his motorcycle to see his sister in Alabama, which he did with his son Tim and cousin Ralph Harvey in April 2018. Prior to his passing, Tommy planned a service for himself at Mt. Herman Baptist Church. Approximately 35 Church men showed up to worship with him. Pastor Grover Holder and Pastor Tommy Massey said they had never seen this before. He was made and Honorary Elder at Growing Oaks Community Church at this service. Surviving are wife of 53 years, Faye Wilson Carter, of the home; son Timothy Carter and fiancé, Michelle of Eden; grandchildren, Jessica Ann Carter, ( Edward) and Timothy “Pete” Carter, (Caiti); great grandchildren, David & Christopher Mundy and Cassius & Charlotte Carter; sister Jo Ann Porter of Eutaw, Alabama; and his special pets, Rosie and Harley.

In lieu of flowers the request memorials be made to Growing Oaks parking lot Fund.
