Thomas (Tommy) Michael Edwards, age 78 of Eden, North Carolina went home to be with the Lord on February 4, 2026, passing peacefully while surrounded by his loving family.
Tommy was a proud patriot who served his country in the United States Navy for four years during the Vietnam era. Following his service, he built a remarkable career at Chandler Concrete, where he dedicated 38 years of hard work and loyalty, working his way from yard worker to dispatcher before retiring. Tommy was a member of First Baptist Church of Draper.
Nothing brought Tommy more joy than the simple pleasures of life. While he loved bowling, watching Nascar races, going fishing, cutting wood, and spending time outdoors, nothing did he treasure more than spending time with his family.
Tommy was known for his lively personality and unmistakable sense of humor. A natural jokester, he loved to laugh, tell stories, and gently pick at those he cared about — a sure sign you were part of his inner circle. He never met a stranger and rarely went anywhere without running into someone he knew or striking up a conversation with a new friend.
More than any accomplishment, Tommy’s greatest pride was the life he built with his loving wife, Andrea Edwards, whom he married in April of 1969. Their marriage stood as a lasting example of commitment, partnership, and love, as they shared over five decades together.
Tommy leaves behind a loving family who will carry his memory forward, including his loving & devoted wife, Andrea Edwards, his children John Edwards (Susan), Kim Harbour (Tim), and James Edwards (Debbie); grandchildren Matthew Harbour (Jenelle), Michael Harbour (Kasey), Sean Edwards, Katelyn Edwards, Madison Edwards, and Andrew Edwards; great-grandchildren Audrey Harbour, Jaxson Harbour, Beau Harbour, and Adalyn Harbour; and sisters Hazel Clark (Wayne), and Pat Fargis.
Tommy was preceded in death by his mother, Lelia Church Edwards, father, Thomas Benton Edwards, sisters Linda Das and Deloris Edwards.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 6th from 5pm - 7pm at Fair Funeral Home in Eden, North Carolina. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 7th at 2:00pm at Fair Funeral Home with a graveside service following at Woodlawn Cemetery in Eden, North Carolina.
Tommy will be remembered for his steady presence, generous heart, quick wit, and unwavering love for his family. The lessons he taught, the phrases he shared, the laughter he brought, and the memories he created will live on in all who were blessed to know him. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing he is now at peace.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Ancora Compassionate Care or to First Baptist Church of Draper.
