Theodore "Ted" Haapala

Theodore Eino Haapala, 86, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at UNC-Rockingham Health Care in Eden.

There will be no formal service or visitation per Mr. Haapala’s request.  However, a register book will be available for signing at Fair Funeral Home for those wishing to do so.

Born September 6, 1934 in Worcestor, MA, Ted was the only child of the late Eino J. and Aili M. Haapala.  As a young boy he was active in Scouting and was an Eagle Scout with two palms.  He also achieved the God and Country Award as well as being a member of the Order of the Arrow.  He graduated from high school in Keene, NH and from University of New Hampshire.  He later received his MBA from Averitt College in Danville, VA.  A graduate journeyman machinist with General Electric, Ted was employed for 9 years before joining Miller Brewing Company in Milwaukee, WI.  In 1977 he was transferred to Eden to be part of the original start team.  He retired from Miller Brewing Company in 1992.  Ted was active in his community for many years having served with the United Way of Eden in several positions including President.  He had been a member of the Eden Kiwanis and was a past president. 

He is survived by his son, Mark Haapala and wife, Jill; daughter, Mary-Ellen Sicola; granddaughters, Mackenzie Maddox, Caroline and Callie Haapala.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Fitz Haapala.
