Teresa Lorraine Meade Hutson

Teresa Lorraine Meade Hutson, 72, of Ruffin, NC, passed on November 10th, 2021, at Hospice of Rockingham County.

A funeral service will be held at Draper Christian Church in Eden, NC, on Sunday, November 14th, at 2pm with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Dan View Cemetery in Eden.

Teresa was born on July 3rd, 1949, to the late Eugene “Gene” Meade and Mildred Chandler Meade. She was a graduate of Morehead High School, class of 1967, and a graduate of UNC Greensboro, class of 1971. She continued her education through many workshops. She loved reading medical books and kept up with all new changes.

Teresa had a rewarding career, having worked as a LabTech at Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville, LabTech at Morehead Hospital in Eden, taught phlebotomy at Lab Corp. in Burlington, and was a traveling educator with the government from the East to West coast.

She was an avid photographer and always had her camera with her. Teresa loved to travel. She and Robert went to all 50 states, as well as Canada and Mexico. She enjoyed camping trips with Betty Ann and Jack Lipford.

Teresa was also an excellent seamstress.  She and Betty Ann made angel costumes, a bridal gown for her niece, and stuffed animals for several children in the family.

On New Year’s Day, she did a community meal for family, friends, and neighbors.

Teresa was a very active member of Draper Christian Church, taught Teens SS Class, was a member of Women’s Circle, a choir member, and performed many other duties.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Robert Lee Hutson; son, Robert Loren Hutson (Carol); sister of the heart, Betty Lipford (Jack); aunt, Gaynell Gregory; uncle, Frank Meade; nephew, Cody Trestrail; goddaughter, Jessica L Pruitt; and many cousins.

Along with her parents, Teresa is preceded in death by her brother, Gordon Meade.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Draper Christian Church or Hospice of Rockingham County.
