Sylvia Gilley

Sylvia Rachel Manchester Gilley, 71 of Eden, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2026, at UNC Rockingham Healthcare.

There will be no formal service.

Sylvia was born December 20, 1954, in Kittery, Maine, to Marie T. Walker and Oscar Manchester. She worked as a spinner at Parkdale Manufacturing. She is survived by her husband, Clyde Gilley, Jr.; children, Keith Dewayne Peacock, Shad Jacob Gilley, and Christopher Lee Gilley; and sisters, Jennie Knoff and Cynthia Sanville.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Purdy, and brothers, Alan Manchester and Dewell Smith.
