Sandra Faye Cassell Fisher

March 29, 1951 — March 19, 2018

Sandra Faye Cassell Fisher, 66, of Eden, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, March 19, 2018.  She was surrounded by her loving family, and died peacefully in her home after a brave fight with cancer. She was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, Mimi, and friend to all.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Osborne Baptist Church, 326 East Stadium Drive, Eden, NC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church and other times at the residence.

Sandra was born in Leaksville (now Eden) on March 29, 1951, to Mrs. Annie Martin Cassell Young and the late William Holbart Cassell. After attending Draper Graded School and Draper Junior High, she was a 1969 graduate of Morehead High School. Although she worked briefly in textiles and retail, the majority of her time was spent raising her children at home, and later caring for her grandchildren before they began school. Sandra’s proudest accomplishment was becoming a Mimi to Andrew, Madison, Baylee, and Jackson. Her greatest desire was to have as much time as possible to spend with them. She made every holiday special for her whole family, including legendary Easter egg hunts and spectacular Christmas celebrations that would last the entire day. Her family meant everything to her.  She also loved her church, Osborne Baptist, especially the FAMILY connection group.

Throughout her life, Sandra maintained a fun-loving demeanor that won the hearts of many. She was always full of joy, which was displayed through her radiant smile, abundant laughter, and playful attitude.  Yet her greatest gift was giving; she taught everyone around her how to give with a cheerful heart, especially when doing so anonymously. She could sense a need in people that most would overlook, and when God placed a person on her heart, she would not rest until that need was met. Sandra loved to travel and see new places, but the beach was her favorite place of all. She especially loved walking up and down the coast searching for special treasures while teaching others how to find them as well. Even after becoming sick, she loved to sit on the beach with her family and friends and let the salty air soothe her soul.  It was truly where she felt closest to God.

Upon learning of her cancer diagnosis in June 2015, Sandra became determined not to let cancer have victory. She firmly placed her hope in Jesus, and He was an anchor for her soul. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through this thirty-three month journey.

Sandra leaves behind a loving family that includes her devoted and loving husband George Fisher; daughters Christie Dalton and husband Jason, and Stephanie Chism and husband Phillip; son Brandon Fisher and wife Kimberly, all of Bethany; grandchildren Andrew and Jackson Dalton,  Madison Wilson, and Baylee Fisher, all of Bethany. She is also survived by her mother Annie M. Young of Eden, sister Joy Walker and husband Gary of Sutherland, Virginia, brothers Curtis Cassell and wife Dixie of Stoneville, and James Cassell and wife Anna of Eden; stepbrother Donald Young of Daleville, Virginia, and stepsister Barbara Purdy and husband Wayne of Eden; numerous nieces and nephews, a large extended family, and many loving friends. She was proceeded in death by her father William H. Cassell and stepfather Johnny L. Young.
