Ruth Wells Barker

Ruth Wells Barker, 91, of Charlotte, NC passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015, at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, February 24, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden, NC. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens in Danville, VA.

Mrs. Barker was born July 17, 1923 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, to the late Joseph Stalin Wells and Julia Kirks Wells. She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Axton, VA.

She is survived by her two daughters, Evelyn B. Glidewell and Patricia B. Neher; five grandchildren, Mark Glidewell, Dawn Herail, Chris Glidewell, David Neher and Holly Neher; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Clifton Wells and wife, Doris; and sister-in-law, Irene Wells.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Barker, Sr.; son, Floyd Barker, Jr.; sisters, Lilly W. Manning and Lizzie W. Manning; and three brothers, Jim Wells, Clarence Wells, and Joseph Wells.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (1 - 2 PM) at Fair Funeral Home .

Due to the severe cold weather the family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.
