Roy Carter, Sr.

Roy Carter, Sr., 89, of 219 Clifton Street, passed away Thursday morning, July 7, 2011 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, July 11, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. A native of Rockingham County, Mr. Carter was born April 21, 1922, son of the late Will and Cora Carter. He was a retiree of Fieldcrest Mills after 50 years of service. Surviving are his children, William Carter, Roy Lee Carter, Nancy Frazier, and Patricia Mitchell, all of Eden; daughter-in-law, Margaret Corum of Eden; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and special friends, Buddy Pulliam of Axton, VA and Vernell Hubbard of Ruffin. The family will receive friends Sunday evening 7 - 9 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of his granddaughter, 310 Bedford Drive in Eden. Online condolences may be o
