Ronald Baxter Thomas

Ronald Baxter Thomas, 68 of Eden, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at Duke University Hospital.

There will be no formal service per his wishes. Flowers may be sent to the family home at 209 Mebane St, Eden, NC.

Ronald was born September 6, 1957 in Rockingham County, North Carolina, to the late Marvin Franklin Thomas and Dorothy Vernon. He was a supervisor in the janitorial department at Morehead Memorial Hospital for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving are his mother, Dorothy Lawson Vernon, son, Ronnie Thomas, Jr., daughter, Dawn Thomas (partner Dewayne), son, Frankie Thomas (wife Lisa), daughter, Mary Thomas, and daughter, Liz Gilley (husband Justin). Ronald is also survived by his grandchildren, Tara Ramirez, Joey Vyhnanek, Zackery Joyner, Tyrell Mims, Alissa Walker, Sarah Lemons, David Thomas, Laila Thomas, Georgia Thomas, Grace Gilley, Parker Lynch, Bethany Gilley, Isabeth Thomas, Olivia Gilley, Benny Thomas, and Elliott Gilley. He also leaves behind his sisters, Wanda Craig, Vikki LeVan, Donna Sandifer, Mandy Knirs, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his father, Ronald is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Julie Burchell Thomas, brother, Larry Thomas, and grandson, Harrison Gilley.
