Ronald Gary East, Sr.

Ronald Gary East, Sr., 83 of Eden, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2026 at Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm Thursday, November 5, 2026 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden. Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 12-2pm. Burial will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.

Ronald was born March 14, 1943 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, to the late Fred Preston East, Sr., and Nannie Olene Dickerson East. He served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He then worked as a carrier with the US Postal Service for many years. He loved traveling and working puzzle books. He took care of his beloved wife, Peggy, until her death. Ronald loved and cherished his grandchildren.

Surviving are his children, Ronald East, Jr., Christopher East; former daughter-in-law and caregiver, Donna Kingston East; grandchildren, Shawn “Buddy” East (Amanda), Tyler East (Alissa), Jacob East (Maddie), Macy East (Tristen), Brittany Pope (Justin), Kourtney Michelle East Holdaway; great-grandchildren, Ryker, Paxton, Gracie, Logan, Bentley, Hailey, Cade, and soon Kaysen; brothers, Fred East (Dean), Randy East (Connie), and Danny East (Linda).

In addition to his parents, Ronald is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Shockley East; son, Shawn Stephen East; grandchild, Serenity East; sister, Betty Jean Wilson and brother-in-law, Marvin Wilson.
