A memorial service will be held at The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, Eden, NC at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2015. Fair Funeral Home will be assisting in the service.

Bob was born in Millington, New Jersey on July 17, 1932 and passed away December 31, 2014, after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his parents Alfred William Sims and Phyllis Hall Sims.

He was happily married to Lois G. Sims until her death in 2002, and is survived by his sister, Ruth S. Post of Basking Ridge, New Jersey; son William H. Sims and wife Carol of Elkton, MD; daughter Melissa S. Hairston and husband Peter of St. Paul, MN; grandchildren Aaron Sims and wife Bomi and family; Ryan and Brianne Sims; Robert and Virginia Hairston.

He was also predeceased by his loving wife Susan Bishopric and survived by Sue?��Ǩ�Ѣs children; daughters Alice Bishopric and husband Peter of Hickory, NC; Barbara Bishopric McNinch and her husband Jerry of Charlotte, NC; son Mark Bishopric and wife Mary Hill of Eden, NC; Sue?��Ǩ�Ѣs grandchildren Susan and Sarah Dickie; Rebecca Patterson and husband Brett; Scott Bishopric; Brad and Jeff McNinch and their families and cousin Libby Moose; all of whom opened their hearts and warmly welcomed Bob into their family.

Bob attended the Pingry School in Elizabeth, New Jersey where he was nick-named ?��Ǩ��Horse Power?��Ǩ�Ѣ on the football team. He was a 1955 Mechanical Engineer graduate of the University of Virginia. He then married Lois in 1955 and began employment with West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company in Covington, Va. He then served in the Army Security Agency stationed in Northern Virginia area, after which worked for Western Electric in Winston-Salem, N.C. In 1966 the family moved to their farm in Cascade, Va., which he supervised for the remainder of his career. He was a southerner at heart and spent the rest of his life in the South, close to the land and farm.

He was Chairman of the Board of the Bachelors Hall Volunteer Fire Department for almost 30 years; served on the Board of Directors of the Pittsylvania County Historical Society; and was a member of the Dan River Basin Association. The family expresses its appreciation to Legacy Hospice of the Piedmont; Abingdon Place of Danville, VA; and Hospice caregivers Kim Robinson and Sylvia Adams.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bachelors Hall Volunteer Fire Dept. or Dan River Basin Association (Eden, NC).
