Robert Curtis Edwards

Robert Curtis Edwards, 82, of 1242 Norman Dr. passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County.  He was born on December 12, 1933 in Draper, North Carolina to the late Thomas and Mary Rakes Edwards.  Robert was a member of Hampton Heights Baptist Church. Robert worked for Fieldcrest Mills and retired after 43 years of service.  He served his country proud in the United States Navy. He was a hardworking man that believed in hard work. Robert enjoyed gardening, helping people but most of all he loved his family.  Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his sisters, Agnes Wilson, Sue Blalock, Ida Hooker, Bertie Shough and Audrey Edwards; brothers, Albert Edwards, Willie Edwards; and grandchild, Jennifer Edwards.

 

A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 2:00 PM in Fair Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow the service at Overlook Cemetery.

 

Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary Edwards of the home; son, Tony Edwards and wife, Kathy of Stoneville; grandchild, Chad Edwards and wife, Kelly of Hillsborough; brothers, Herbert Edwards of Julian, NC, Wayne Edwards of Greensboro, and Howard Edwards of Stanleytown, VA and several loving nieces and nephews.

 

A visitation will be held on Monday, February, 1, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home.
