Robert "Bob" Arthur Johnson, 78, of Stoneville, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Hospice Home of Rockingham County.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, April 30, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Military honors will be performed by Rockingham County Honor Guard and the US Navy. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the Morehead-Fair House. A private burial will be held the following day at Trent Family Cemetery in Mayodan.
Bob was born July 4, 1939 in Leaksville, NC to the late William Irvin Johnson and Ethel Llewelyn Johnson. He was a member of North Spray Christian Church. He loved horseback riding and spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Bob was a retired US Navy veteran having served 20 years in the military. He later retired from City of Eden as the Superintendent of the Water and Sewer Department.
He is survived by his four sons, Paul Arthur Johnson of Westerly, RI, Jeffrey Dale Johnson of Glen Beulah, WI, Robert Arthur Johnson, Jr. of Sheboygan, WI, and Allen "Buddy" Hancock of Rocky Mount, VA; daughter, Michelle Joyce of Eden; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Iris Hudson Johnson; son, Charles "Chuck" Eugene Johnson; and twin brother, Richard Johnson.
