Robert Stephen Adams

Robert Stephen Adams, “Steve”, of 138 Grant St, Eden, N.C., 82 years old, died on January 19, 2026.

Services will be held at Fair Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 2pm. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens in Eden, beside his parents. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Steve was predeceased by his father, Dr. Robert W. Adams, in May 2004 and his mother, Mary Taylor Adams, in January 2007. Steve was an only child and never married, but did have cousins in Hickory, N.C. (Robert, Anne, Martha, Eddie, Mildred, and Donald Taylor and Dickie, Norman, Hilda, and Robert Adams.

Steve was born in Hickory, N.C. in 1943, but grew up in Eden, N.C. and graduated from Morehead High School in Eden, N.C. in 1961 with honor. He received his BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from N.C. State University in 1965 and his Masters Degree in Engineering Administration from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. in 1968. He worked as an Electronic Engineer for the U.S. Government, National Security Agency, in Fort Meade, Maryland for 30 years and traveled worldwide for the Agency.

He retired back to North Carolina to help take care of his parents during their senior years. He took both of his parents throughout Europe where his dad fought in World War II in an Army Tank Division, and later took his parents to Canada, Florida, and the Midwest area of the U.S. As one might guess, Steve loved to work with electronic gadgets, and was very fond of fixing old radios as well as installing newer gadgets like satellite radios for the home and cars. Steve was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eden, N.C. for over fifty years.

Steve will appreciate it if his friends will, instead of flowers, make a contribution to First Baptist Church, 533 Greenwood Street, Eden, N.C. 27288, in his memory.
