Rita Hopkins Ferguson

Rita Hopkins Ferguson, 90, passed away on June 11, 2025 at her residence for the past few years, Silver Treasures Senior Living, the former Bayberry in Eden, N.C. Per Rita’s request, there will be no service.

Rita is survived by Lynda Hodges of Kernersville, NC, and Julianna Dettmar of Dalton, GA. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Ferguson, her parents, Bernard Hopkins and Kathleen Hopkins Hodges, and her brother, Mac Hodges.

Rita graduated from Leaksville High School and lived the majority of her life in Eden. Her greatest passion in life was music, and she shared her beautiful soprano voice at First Presbyterian Church and at numerous weddings and funerals throughout the years. Her special pleasure was singing while her brother Mac accompanied her. Also, she was an active member of the choir at First Presbyterian until arthritis limited her from leaving home.

A very special thanks is extended to Abby Hylton and her staff at Silver Treasures for the heartfelt care extended to Rita and to the nurses and other staff members from Ancora.
