Richard William Minter

Richard “Ricky” William Minter, 74 of Eden, passed away Monday, August 31, 2026 at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 1-2pm.

Ricky was born January 21, 1952, in Rockingham County, North Carolina, to the late Willaim Bo Minter and Lucille Jones Minter. He was a graduate of Morehead High School, class of 1970. He also attended Rockingham Community College. Ricky worked for Duke Energy for more than 40 years. He retired as a supervisor at the Dan River Steam Station. Ricky was a long-standing member of Osborne Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing softball and played in a church league for many years. Ricky was a known handyman, enjoying hard work and carpentry. He also enjoyed back packing the Appalachian Trail.

Surviving are his loving wife, Avis Hazelwood Minter; daughter, Courtney Minter Stowe (William); son, Adam Minter (Rachel); grandchildren, Evelynne Stowe, August Minter, Asher Minter; sister, Vickie Minter-Corum; special aunt, Marie Cassell; nieces, Brooke Corum and Brie Beacham; nephews, Randy Smith and Lee Hazelwood; brother-in-law, Jimmy Hazelwood.

In addition to his parents, Ricky is preceded in death by his daughter, Samantha Layne Minter, and brother, Randy Minter.
