Reverend James Glenn Farmer

June 25, 1922 — April 4, 2017

Reverend James Glenn Farmer, 94 formerly of Eden, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 4, 2017 at Union County General Hospital in Georgia.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm at Ridge-View Memorial Gardens on Friday, April 14, 2017 with military graveside rites preformed by the Rockingham County Veterans Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends at Fair Funeral Home one hour prior to the service (1 – 2) before proceeding to the grave.

James was born in Schoolfield, VA on June 25, 1922 to the late Steven V. Farmer and Pearl Idona Thomas Farmer.  He served his country proud in the United States Army.

James was a WWII prisoner of War in Germany. Many people come back from war and would not, or could not speak of their time in combat but he always ministered out of his experiences in WWII as a way of showing people that there is always hope in the time of despair.  James was a pastor for The Church of God of Prophecy for 47 years.  He pastored in NC, MD, W. VA, MO and AR.  Even after retirement he continued to minister whenever and wherever invited.  His last sermon given was after 90 years of age at The Church of God of Prophecy in Hoschton, GA.

Dad was a true reflection of our Heavenly Father, humble, selfless and giving. A man of great faith, an awesome Dad, faithful husband and caregiver to our mother, Rachel, and a Shepherd to many congregations.  He loved God and his family more than life itself. Dad leaves a legacy behind that will forever be seen not only in our lives and our children’s lives but in the lives of all he ministered to.  He will be forever in our hearts.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”  2 Timothy 4:7

James is survived by his two children, Phillip Steven Farmer and wife Judy of Arkadelphia, AR and Marlene Farmer Burgess and husband, Stan of Buford, GA; grandchildren, Audrey Ulibarri and husband, Ben of Jonesboro, AR, Candace Dunigan and husband, Johnny of Black Oak, AR, Christina Davis and husband, Merritt of Trumann AR, Brent Burgess and wife Melissa of Lilburn, GA, and Amanda Burgess of Buford, GA; great-grandchildren, Morgan Haynie, Isaac Haynie, Jonah Haynie and Layla Ulibarri all of Jonesboro, AR, Noah Teeter, Eli Teeter, Nathaniel Dunigan  and Jude Dunigan all of Black Oak, AR, Anna Lebo, Rachel Lebo, Kai Davis and Lainey Davis all of Trumann AR,  Arwen Burgess, Charis Burgess, Ezra Burgess, Evelyn Burgess and Titus Burgess all of Lilburn, GA and Jeremiah Burgess of Buford, GA; sisters, Reva Teeters and husband, Bob and JoAnn Brown both of Eden, NC; several nieces and  nephews; and great nieces and nephews.
