Our sweet dad, papa, grandpa and special friend went to heaven today. We know he?ǨѢs with Jesus as he begins his walk into eternity. He was saved, professed his faith and acknowledged his belief in the Lord to all that visited during his recent illness. He lived in Eden his entire life.

Ralph worked for Fieldcrest Mills for many years before his retirement, then worked as a salesman for Bradley Davidson, selling textile machine parts. He finally retired just before he turned 80 years old. He enjoyed his work and was very proud of his accomplishments. He always stayed busy with his grandchildren who loved him dearly.

Ralph joins his son Garland Lee Carter, his parents and brother and sisters in heaven; Naomi Jarrell, Barbara Thomas, and Bransford Carter and his half-sisters Eunice Overby and Lena Baldwin. He is survived by his uncle Milton Overby and his wife Carol.

Ralph is survived by his daughters Virginia Lawson and husband John and Cindy Clark and her husband Dean. He is also survived by a special family, Shirley Gray and her children Laura and husband Troy Bailey and Mike Gray his stepson. He is also survived by Kimberly and Candace Bailey, and Jessica Trent and her husband Randy and Jake Gray who also loved Ralph as their papa for their entire lives. All these families were a special part of his life, his grandchildren, Jamie and Jennifer, Allison and Aaron loved him dearly. His great grandchildren were a special part of his life; Peyton, Nathan, Brayden, Reagan, Fletcher and Elijah loved him dearly and he loved them more.

Ralph enjoyed fishing, trapping, cooking, and all his life he was a kind, considerate friend to many. No challenge was too great for Ralph, he was a superb handyman and could ?Ǩ?fix?Ǩ most anything. He will be missed dearly, but one day we will all meet again in heaven.

The family will receive friends Sunday, Nov. 15 from 6 ?Ǩ 8 pm at Fair Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of Shirley Gray, 651 Roberts Road, Eden, NC.
