Our sweet Mom, Priscilla May Foster Holmes, left us Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the age of 92.  She passed away peacefully at Elmcroft Senior Living.

The daughter of Kendall Peabody Foster and Dorothy Perry Foster, Boston MA was her birthplace, 5/27/1924; she moved to St Petersburg at the age of 15 and graduated from St Petersburg Junior College.  There she met and married Ross Bishop Holmes, US Army Air Corps, and they were married for 68 years.

She was a member of Stanley Heights Baptist Church, East Ridge. Together, Priscilla and Ross served as missionaries to ST VINCENT, British West Indies. In 1958 they co-founded the BAPTIST BIBLE SCHOOL OF THE CARIBBEAN in St Vincent, which is still training young people today.

They also served in DOMINICA, West Indies, and in MADAGASCAR.   They were kicked out of Madagascar on suspicion of being spies.

Ross and Priscilla Holmes then moved to North Carolina where they were part of the founding members and the first Pastor of Central Baptist Church, Eden NC.   Many longtime family friends are there, as they used Leaksville, Spray, Draper as their home while on deputation from the mission fields.. the Farabees, Chandlers, Burnettes, Banks family, and many more.   Later they joined Church Planters and worked with them in Winston Salem, NC.  They retired to Chattanooga in 2008.

She is survived by her cousin, Sylvia Marble of Boston, 2 sons, Stephen Foster Holmes and David Ross Holmes (Kesami). Both are Morehead High graduates.   Her four grand-children are Shannon Porter (Don), Michael Holmes, Jason Holmes (Jessica), all living in Greenville, SC, and John Holmes (Elizabeth) in NYC.  She has 9 beautiful great-grand-children:  Sarah Mackenzie Porter, Seth Porter, Grant Porter, Ian Holmes, Austin Holmes, Hudson Holmes, Logan Grace Holmes, Brady Holmes, Ryder Holmes.
