Preston "Pete" Francis Smith

Preston "Pete" Francis Smith, 82, of 1021 Anglin Mill Road in Stoneville, NC, passed away Thursday afternoon, May 22, 2014, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville.

A funeral service will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, May 25, at Christian View Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Eden.

Mr. Smith was born March 23, 1932 to the late Joshua Ruffin and Hallie Mae Brown Smith. He was a member of Christian View Pentecostal Holiness Church and a retiree of Bassett Furniture after 45 years of service.

He is survived by four sisters, Pauline Joyce of Spencer, VA, Louise Stone of Bassett, VA, Dorothy Shaw of Greensboro, NC, and Ruby Wright of Collinsville, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In additon to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Beverly, Oscar, Garland and Cecil Smith; and sisters, Zelma Price, Mary Anglin, Iris Joyce, and Nancy Stanley.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (2 - 3 PM) at the church.
