Phillip David Hale

Phillip “David” Hale, 74, of Eden passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024 at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden with burial to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 7, 2024, from 4-6pm at Fair Funeral Home.

David was born July 15, 1949, in Rockingham County, NC, to the late George “Noal” Hale, Sr., and Gladys Hamilton Martin Hale. He was a member of Draper Pentecostal Holiness Church. David was a Navy Veteran, serving his country during the Vietnam War. David graduated Morehead High School, class of 1967, and received an Associate’s Degree from Rockingham Community College in 1976. He worked in the tobacco industry for most of his life, at American Tobacco in Reidsville and Lorillard Tobacco in Greensboro as a machine operator. David retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company in 2014. He loved to sing Gospel music.

Surviving David are his loving wife, Gloria Jean Hicks Hale; children, Chad Hale, Christy Brubaker (Lonnie), Jonathan Hale (Ashley), and Mary Beth Hale; sisters, Joan Hale Seagraves and Martha Hale Gunn; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his brother, Noal Hale, Jr, and granddaughter, Melissa Frances Hale.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Draper Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1608 E Delaware Ave, Eden, NC 27288 or to The Gideons International, PO Box 97251, Washington, DC 20090-7251.
