Peggy Ann Tate Underwood, 77, of 1090 Chumney Loop, passed away Sunday afternoon, November 7, 2010 at Morehead Memorial Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, November 10, at Draper Christian Church. Burial will follow in Danview Cemetery. Mrs. Underwood, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister was a native of Rockingham County; born November 24, 1932, daughter of the late William Albert and Elizabeth Diamond Tate. She was a member of Draper Christian Church, Past Commander of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and current President and member of the Blinded Veteran's Association Auxiliary. Mrs. Underwood was a retired registered nurse, having worked for American Tobacco Company for 31 years. Surviving is her husband, Billy F. Underwood of the home; three sons, Keith Daryl Underwood of King, William Blaine Underwood and wife, Pam of Safety Harbor, FL, and Timothy Dale Underwood and wife, Angela of Reidsville; five grandsons, Bradley Moody, Kyle Underwood, Collin Underwood, Conner Underwood, and Jacob Underwood; two granddaugthers, Kesley Underwood and Allyson Underwood; and sister, Judy Tate Mullis and husband, Harry of Reidsville. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, 6 - 8 PM at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
