Pearlie Mae Chaney Hughes, 98, of Eden, NC, passed away October 23rd at the Pelican Nursing Home in Reidsville, NC.
A Graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, October 30th at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Hughes was born in Franklin County, VA to the late Johnny Joseph and Frances Hall Chaney. She was a member of Kings Memorial Church. Pearlie was retired from DuPont where she worked in the Pack Room for many years. After retirement, she worked 20years as a hostess for McDonald’s in Eden and was nominated as an Ambassador of McDonald’s. She loved the customer’s and kept the lobby decorated for them to enjoy. Along with decorating, she loved to plan weddings and make the flowers for each member of the wedding party. Mrs. Hughes was also a volunteer at Morehead Hospital for 30 years.
She is survived by her daughter Bonnie Christley, of Eden and her son, Kenny Hughes of Decatur, TX, four grandchildren, ten great-grand children.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers; Grady Chaney, Curtis Chaney (Doc) and Lumas Chaney all of Eden, sisters; Thelma Lemons, Lera Swinney, Cora Scott and Avis Wiles all of Eden and Ruby Hutcherson of FL., son-in-law, Bobby Christley.
