Otis Carter, 89, of 506 Cascade Avenue in Eden, passed away Wednesday morning, April 1, 2015, at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 4, at First Baptist Church of Draper.
Mr. Carter was born October 26, 1925 in Ruffin, NC to the late John Dillard Carter and Kate Hall Carter. He was a 65 year member of First Baptist Church of Draper, where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board and was a choir member. After working as an agent for Pilot Life Insurance Company he became disabled. At that time he began doing woodwork and furniture refinishing. He also loved fishing and his favorite food was chicken.
He is survived by his wife, Elree Hopkins Carter, of the home; daughters, Kathy L. Bowman and husband, Jeffrey, and Gina C. Kingston and husband, Michael, both of Eden; two sisters, Mary Craddock and husband, Garnet of Clemson, SC and Macie Craddock of Chatham, VA; two grandchildren, Trisha O'dell and Daniel Carter, both of Eden; and four great-grandchildren, Holly O'dell, Travis O'dell, Seth O'dell and Landon Carter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jamie, Julian and Paul Carter; and sisters, Opal Glidwell, Edna Crowder and Doddie Trout.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall at the church and other times at the residence.
