Norma "Jean" Vernon Porter

Norma "Jean" Vernon Porter, 67 of 105 Leigh Drive in Stoneville, passed away Monday, Decemeber 17, 2018, at Hospice Home of Rockingham County.

A funeral service will be held at 3:30 PM on Thursday, December 20, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Gospel Road Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 6 - 8 PM, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of her sister, Sybil Hall, 215 Meeks Road in Eden.

Jean was born March 5, 1951 in Stokes County, NC, to the late Norman Junior Vernon and Rosie Bailey Vernon.  She was a member of Gospel Road Baptist Church and was a retiree of Hayes Electric Company.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry D. Porter, Sr., of the home;  son, Ralph Handy and wife, Tandra of Eden;  and five sisters, Sybil Hall and husband, Charles of Eden, Helen White of High Point, Doris Land and husband, Jimmy "Slick" of Stoneville, Sharon Smith and Lisa Vernon, both of Reidsville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bert J. Vernon and Jimmy L. Vernon.
