Nellie "Mema" Saunders

Nellie "Mema" Saunders, 92, of 211 Saunders Rd. in Stoneville, passed away late Saturday evening(Dec. 31, 2011) at her home. Funeral services will be held at the Providence Baptist Church on Wednesday Jan. 4, 2012 at 3:00 pm with burial to follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Saunders was born in Rockingham county on April 30, 1919 to the late, Edward and Lizzie Huff Hundley. Mrs. Saunders was a member of the Providence Baptist Church, the El Bethel Extension Homemakers and the Shiloh 4-H Club(Co-Founder). She was a graduate of Stoneville High School and was retired from Karastan and also was formerly employed at Chandler Drug. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther "Buck" Saunders, son, Gordon Saunders and her brother, Webster Hundley. She is survived by her daughters; Pamela Stanley and husband,Royal of the home and Barbara Saunders of the home, daughter-inlaw; Julia Saunders of Arlington, TN. 7 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren. A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening at Fair Funeral Home from 7 til 9 pm and at other times at her home.
