Nellie Kennon Long, 74, of 322 Bedford Drive in Eden, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019, at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Monday, December 2, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Overlook Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Sunday evening, 5 - 7 PM, at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of her sister, Betty Young, 263 E. Aiken Road in Eden.

Nellie was born September 11, 1945 in Leaksville, NC, to the late Roy and Pearl Warren Kennon.  She was a graduate of Morehead High School, Class of 1963 and received a Associate's Degree in Medical Office Technology from Rockingham Community College.  She was a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church.  Nellie retired  from Fieldcrest Mills.  Following her retirement, Nellie worked for Dan River Mills, Hospice of Rockingham County and, finally, the Education Center at Trinity Wesleyan Church.  She enjoyed growing and arranging flowers, gardening, animals, and crafts.

She is survived by her son,  Jack Long (Sharon) of High Point;  grand-niece, Brooklyn Brown of High Point;  sisters, Betty Young (Courtney) of Eden and Pat Harbour of Madison;  niece, Suzanna Amos (Wayne) of Madison;  nephew, Jay Young (Julie) of Greensboro; and great-nephews, Jesse Amos and Mason Young;  and great-niece, Dylan Young.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Melvin Warren.
