Numa David "N. D." Redmon, Jr., age 92, passed away on Wednesday morning, November 14, 2012 at Spring Arbor of Greensboro.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, November 18, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Overlook Cemetery.
Mr. Redmon was a US Air Corp World War II, disabled veteran. He served with the 10th Service Group, 8th Service Squadron, Ninth Air Force, 95th Air Depot Group and 917th Air Engineer Squadron, in England, France, Belgium and Germany. He received four medals with two bronze service stars. After the war, he served in the United States Air Force Reserves.
Mr. Redmon was a former member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) - Eden serving as Elder, Sunday School teacher, Chairman of the Church Board, Superintendent of Sunday School and various committee chairmanships. He recently moved his membership to North Spray Christian Church.
A past president of the Leaksville-Spray Lions Club, Mr. Redmon was honored with a Lions International Foundation Melvin Jones Award for his humanitarian service. He also received a Jack Stickley Award for dedicated service from the N. C. Lions Foundation.
He was past president and past secretary of the Eden Radio Model Control Flying Club. And, former member of the American Legion and Tri-City Junior Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Redmon was Senior Methods and Standards Engineer for Fieldcrest Mills, Electric Blanket Mill prior to his resignation to accept an appointment by President Dwight D. Eisenhower as Postmaster, Leaksville, NC. He served as Postmaster, Eden and Officer-In-Charge, Reidsville Post Office with special assignment to the Postmaster Selection position for the Greensboro Postal District.
Mr. Redmon received a Distinguished Service Award from the Tri-Cities Kiwanis Club for his services to the community.
He was honored by the North Carolina Postmaster's Association with a Greene-Howell Service Trophy Award.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan G. Redmon of Greensboro; sister, Frances Robertson of Bel Alton, MD; brothers, Harold W. Redmon of Winston-Salem and Aubrey W. "Wick" Redmon of University Park, FL; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Redmon was preceded in death by his wife, of 54 years, Jeanette Edwards Redmon, who died February 1, 2001. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Patricia L. Redmon.

Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon from 12:30 PM to 2 PM at Fair Funeral Home Chapel, prior to the funeral.
