Nathan Sherwood Mccracken

Nathan McCracken, age 74 of Cocoa, Florida passed away on October 24, 2021 at University of Florida Health Shands Hospital in Gainsville, Florida.

A memorial service is being planned for the Spring of 2022. 

Nathan was born on November 26, 1946 to the late Richard McCracken and Gladys Murphy of Eden.

Nathan graduated from Morehead High School and Rockingham Community College.  He worked at Chapel Ambulance Service and was Security Director at Wuesthoff Health Systems. He retired from Health First Cocoa Beach Florida and taught gun safety classes through Florida Firearm Training.  Nathan was a devoted husband who cared for his wife tirelessly.  An avid musician specializing in bass guitar, he belonged to various gospel and bluegrass groups.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and riding his Spyder. 

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Doris McCracken of Cocoa, Florida, daughter, Cathy Hill of Jacksonville, Florida,  grandson, Anthony Hill of Merritt Island, Florida, sisters Dale (Bobby) Walker of Ringgold, Virginia, Donna (Jose) Gallardo  of Eden, NC, best friend Julian Robertson of Danville, Virginia and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Doris McCracken 4130 Royal Palm Avenue Cocoa, Florida 32926.
