Nancy Hutchins Hamlett

May 7, 1941 — November 19, 2019

Nancy Hutchins Hamlett, 78, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, surrounded by friends and family.  

A graveside service will be held at 3 PM on Thursday, November 21, at Floyd Baptist Church Cemetery in Stoneville.  Pastor Harold Gearhart will officiate.  The family will receive friends at Floyd Baptist Church, one hour prior to the service (2 - 3 PM) and other times at the residence, 2023 Snead Road in Stoneville.

Nancy was born in Eden on May 7, 1941 to the late Noel and Bertha Hutchins.  She loved her family and friends, her beautiful yard, living in Miami, Florida and many trips to Daytona Beach every spring.  She was retired from the Sara Lee Corporation in Eden.

She is survived by her daughter, Mickie Powell and husband, Andy;  four grandchildren, Chris Pierson and Tracey of Stoneville, Nicole Pierson Carter of Stoneville, Andrew Powell and Valorie of Greensboro, Adam Powell and Brooke of Reidsville;  eight great-grandchildren, Michael Carter, Nathanael, Autumn, and Gavin Pierson, Kinley Abernathy, Charlie and Jack Powell, and baby girl, Payten Powell;  her sister, Carol Cook;  brother, Jesse Hutchins;  and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hamlett;  sisters, Shirley Smith, Judy Lester;  and great-grandson, Mason Carter. 

A special thank you, to her caregivers, Nancy Sams; her niece, Kim Wallace;  granddaughter, Nicole Carter;  and great-granddaughter, Autumn Pierson, for your tireless devotion to her care.  Her loving Floyd Baptist Church family and her friends, Joan Conner, Brenda Pyrtle, Melody Shockley, and Glenda Tilley, your friendship meant the world to me.  Also a special thank you to Hospice of Rockingham County.
