Millie Harmon Morrison

Millie Jo Harmon Morrison, 83, passed away early Thursday morning, January 28, 2021, at Jacob’s Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Madison.

Due to the ice and weather conditions and for safety, the service has been moved to 11 am Monday, February 1, to*** Fair Funeral Home Chapel*** with a private burial in Overlook Cemetery at a later date.  Due to Covid-19, the family requests that you wear a face covering and observe social distancing for the service.  The service will be live-streamed on the Fair Funeral Home FaceBook page for those unable to attend.  She will lie in repose on Sunday from 12 Noon to 6 PM at Fair Funeral Home for those wishing to come by to pay their respects.

Born May 2, 1937 in Rockingham County, NC, Millie was the daughter of the late Melvin Urbane Harmon and Mildred Quesinberry Harmon.  She cherished family, friends and the Brethren Church.  Millie took great joy in providing childcare in her home to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and niece as well as many children of her friends.  She loved each one of “her babies” and delighted in teaching them each family member’s name and birthday.  Prior to this she worked as a Nurse’s Assistant at Morehead Hospital.  She also worked for Spray Textured Yarns, Miller Brewery, Mann Drug Lunch counter and Quick Stop.  Millie was a faithful member of the First Church of the Brethren where she taught Sunday school for many years and participated in all church activities for as long as she was able.

The joy of Millie’s life was raising the five children who survive her,   sons, Al Morrison, Jr. (Sandy) and Tony Morrison (Tina); daughters, Jodi Langel (Mark), Judi Jones (Garry) and Jan Odom (Randy).  She has 12 grandchildren, Joshua Jones (Ashley), Jeremy Jones (Ingrid), Neil Morrison, Joey Langel, Andrew Langel, Michael Langel, Chastity Crews (Sam), Christina Lilly (Mark) and McKenzie Willisams (Kirsten); 11 great-grandchildren, Isaac and Marlowe Jones, Blake, Macy, Karis and Corinne Jones, Madelyn, Samuel and Noah Crews, Jacob and Sara Lilly.  Millie is also survived by her brothers, Melvin Harmon (Donna) and Mike Harmon (Judy); and uncle, Calvin Quesinberry.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Gordon Morrison, Sr.
