Mildred "Malvene" Ferguson Evans

Malvene Ferguson Evans passed away July 20, 2011 at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County. Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 23, 2011, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will take place at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Evans was born March 20, 1923 to Oscar and Lucy Ferguson. She was a graduate of Leaksville High School and retired from Fieldcrest General Offices. She was a Morehead Hospital Auxiliary volunteer and a charter member of Kings Highway Christian Church. Her hobbies included needlework, gardening, and cooking for family and friends. She was an avid fan of Atlanta Braves baseball and all UNC sports. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, and friend and will be greatly missed by all. Mrs. Evans is survived by one daughter, Millie Priddy (fiance, Don Campbell), and her beloved baby brother, Frank (Fergy) Ferguson (special friend, Ronda Proffit), and a loving and special niece, Sylvia McCormick (Mike) of Rural Hall. Also surviving are nephews, Larry Ferguson (Debi) of Florida, Garry Ferguson (Linda) of MIchigan, and niece, Vickie Oliver (Joe) of MIchigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, Colonel (Kern) Evans, brother, Elwood Ferguson, and sister, Mozelle Richardson. She loved and "adopted" as her children, Jerry and Denise Walker, Troy Bateman, and Wayne (Blue) Priddy. The family would like to thank Dr. James Parsons and Dr. William McLeod for their care and support during her brief illness, and the staff of Hospice Home of Rockingham County. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:30 pm on Friday, July 22, 2011 at Fair Funeral Home.
