Mildred “Frances” Goins entered her heavenly home on January 26, 2025.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00, Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden. Burial will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.

Born in Patrick County, VA on May 2, 1931 to Austin and Maggie Cassell. She was the youngest of 13 children. Frances was of the Baptist faith and a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church. Throughout her working years, she was employed by American Tobacco and Karastan Mills. She also enjoyed selling Avon products and worked as an in-home caregiver for many years. Frances was full of life and possessed the most giving and caring heart. She always enjoyed the finer things in life, traveling with friends and family, and dancing. Her family was her pride and joy, her greatest achievement.

She is survived by the love of her life, Elmer Goins; her children, Ernest Wayne Curry (Wendy), Pamela Tickle, Ray Lewis (Pam), and James Poet Lewis Jr. (Sheila). Her grandchildren: Robert Curry, Elizabeth Riffe (Jeffrey), Lauren Curry, E. Wayne Curry Jr., Crystal Blankenship (Roy), Brandi Sparks (Jacob), Amelia Nelson (Justin), Austin Lewis (Rebecca), Parker Lewis, and Travis Lewis (Shanda). Great-grandchildren: Liesl and Piper Riffe, Lucas Curry-Lopez, Lane and Wesley Blankenship, Kristian Barney, Levi and Leah Sparks, Addyson, Jeremiah, and Jameson Nelson, and Layne Lewis. Great-great grandchild: Raven Barney. She is also survived by several special nieces and nephews, son-in-law, Michael Tickle, and caregivers Keith and Jamie Owens.

In addition to her parents and siblings, she is predeceased by a grandson, Tony Barney III.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the staff at Cardinal Assisted Living in Danville, VA, as well as the wonderful doctors and nurses at SOVAH-Danville.

In memory of Frances, donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice Care or the Cascade Volunteer Fire Department.
