Melvin Ray Grogan

Melvin Ray Grogan, 66, of Eden passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville.

There will be no formal services.

Melvin was born October 8, 1957, in Eden, NC, to the late William “Shorty” Grogan and Molly Irene Mangrum Grogan. Melvin spent part of his childhood in the state of Maryland with his family, having moved while his father, “Shorty”, was in service. He moved back to Eden to help the family care for his great-grandfather. Melvin was very athletic, was once scouted by pro baseball, and was a huge Atlanta Braves fan. Though shy, he loved sports and playing pool. Melvin loved and took great care of his mother during her final time.

While there is little family surviving Melvin, he will always be fondly remembered and loved by those who knew him, especially his cousins and friends, James Everett Hatcher of Eden, and Kim and Scott McEwan of Eden.

Following cremation, Melvin will be placed with his mother at Dan View Cemetery, as were his wishes.
