Melvin Eugene Turner

Melvin Eugene Turner, 84, of Eden, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2023 at UNC Rockingham Health Hospital.

Graveside services will be Thursday, June 29th, 11 am at Overlook Cemetery.  Family will be receiving friends at other times at the home of Melba Wyatt, 164 Martinwood Road, Eden.

Melvin was born August 3, 1938 in Rockingham County to the late Carl and Myrtle Vernon Turner.  He was a retired electrician.  He enjoyed working on lawnmowers, loved to fish, was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to watch his great grandchildren play ball.

He is survived by his previous wife, Gracie Turner; their daughters, Melba (Mark) Wyatt of Eden and Kathy (Tony) Edwards of Stoneville; four grandchildren, Chad (Kelly) Edwards, Ashley (Cody) Snow, Danielle (Justin) Fain and Jacob Bowman; eight great grandchildren; sisters, Doris Boyd of Eden and Brenda Tuttle of Eden; brothers, Robert (Janice) Turner of Stoneville and Sam Turner of Eden. Also survived by Marcia Thacker and Sheila Kennon and their children Stephanie, Jonathan, Tim, Laurie and Tori.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Corina Rakes and a brother, Claude Turner.
