Melvin Gene Akers, 86 of Eden, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Eden Rehabilitation and Healthcare.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Fair Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Melvin was born May 1, 1938 in Princeton, West Virginia, to the late John and Dory Akers. He worked as a mechanic at Irvin Industries until his retirement. Melvin was a NASCAR fan. He loved tinkering with cars. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving are his son, Randy Akers (Ramona), of Eden and sister-in-law, Georgia Akers of New York.
In addition to his parents, Melvin is preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy Sands Akers.
